I am a girl, a chicksinger, a wife, a sister, a friend. I am a mom and a blogger, a facebooker and a tweeter. I am always some of these and sometimes all of these. I adore shoes and purses, Apple computers and my iPhone, Mac make up, positive thinking, searching for new songs to sing and delicious and delectable things to eat and drink! My husband and my son are shining examples of what I have done well in my life and the love that exists in this Universe. My music and writing are what I must do in order to feel whole and complete. YOU are why I do it! Book Karen Michaels and the Special K Project for your wedding, corporate event, cabaret venue, lounge, more!

Hit the jackpot with Vegas freebies!

I have been very fortunate to live in some wonderful cities throughout our great country. But, I just have to tell you that living in Las Vegas is non-stop fun and excitement! We have just about everything you need and you can get it just about 24 hours a day.  For a price, of course. Right? Wrong!!!

Ever since I became a Mommy 3 years ago, I have truly become the budget conscious chick. There is so much to do and see in our great city that only costs you the time to get there. Let’s talk about a few of my faves that are both kid friendly and keeps your money in your wallet.

The Fountains of Bellagio- It’s just water. NOT!!!  It’s absolutely gorgeous and the night time version is awe-inspiring.  I think the best view is from across the street, directly in front of the Paris Hotel.

Botanical Gardens at the Bellagio is probably my favorite free thing to do in Las Vegas!  It’s 24 hours and just amazing!

MGM Grand Lion Habitat-ok, I LOVE these cats! Maybe I have just been lucky, but every time we go the lions are out and playing and there is one walk area where the cats are literally above you. You are so close to them, you get the full scope of their size, strength and beauty.

Hours of operation: Open daily, 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. Feeding times are 11:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily.

The Venetian Gondolas and St. Marks Square-just walking around inside this casino is enough to transport you all the way to the stunning city of Venice. Of course, the Gondola ride is not free, but you can watch the Gondolas float effortlessly down the Canal as the Gondoliers sing various well known classical pieces. While walking around  St. Marks Square, there are a myriad of  street performers from opera singers to living statues and costumed actors.  Performances generally begin around 10am and happen periodically thereafter. The architecture and the frescos and the ambiance of the Venetian is sometimes all you need for a nice little day-cation.

Town Square Las Vegas-now, yes this is a mall, with tons of great shops (MAC make up and Apple, I <3 you!). But, they have one of the BEST parks for kids we have found. Our Little Man has so much fun here! It’s clean, well managed and we love it! They also have many special events geared towards kids, from “Storytime in the Square” to fantastic seasonal events, including the upcoming Hop and Shop for Easter weekend.

Now, these are just a few of the fabulous free things you can do in our  glittery town of Las Vegas.  Do you have something you love to do with your kids that’s free? Write me and let me know! I’d love to hear from you!
